Mr. James Hury
Deputy Director & Chief Innovation Officer, The Translational Research Institute for Space Health
James Hury is the Deputy Director and Chief Innovation Officer for the Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH). In this role, Mr. Hury executes TRISH’s vision by finding and funding impactful emerging health and human performance technologies to aid NASA’s deep space exploration, which includes Artemis and Mars missions. This entails coordinating all solicitations, funding mechanisms, outreach efforts, new partnerships, and procurement strategies. In addition, Mr. Hury leads the Institute’s industry program, which funds companies ranging in scale from startup to large multinational, to develop or validate health and human performance technologies that can support astronauts on a future mission to Mars and back. Working with external stakeholders, Mr. Hury coordinates the contractual aspects of the commercial spaceflight program.
Prior to joining TRISH, Mr. Hury established and led Innovation Partnerships in the Texas Children’s system. Mr. Hury received his M.B.A. from the Jones School of Business at Rice University, where he later taught Health Ventures and Healthcare Finance.
